To Do:
- Register for Trek
- Sign Permission and Medical Release Form
- Gather supplies (see below for specifics or print the packing list)
- Prepare spiritually, mentally, socially, and physically for Trek by visiting the ‘Walk With Christ’ site
- Research a “pioneer” you would like to walk for.
Trek Packing List
**Remember to label items with first and last name**
Bring on the bus:
- Insulated water bottle with your name on it. (Full for the bus ride that morning)
- Wear 1 pair of comfortable, broke-in, closed-toed shoes or hiking boots. These are what you will trek in.
- Everyone will wear your pioneer clothing on the bus
In a duffle bag or cloth laundry sack:
**Please write your name on the OUTSIDE of your bag. NO PLASTIC GARBAGE SACKS.**
- Sleeping bag and old blanket
- Sleeping pad
- 1 small pillow
- 1 warm jacket or hoody
In the bucket:
- 1 pair of water friendly shoes that have a strap (like Chacos or old sneakers – Please, no flip-flops)
- Body Glide, body powder, or some other anti-chafing stick.
- Hand soap and/or hand sanitizer
- Toothbrush and toothpaste
- Sunscreen
- Chapstick/lip balm (ideally with sunscreen)
- Insect Repellent
- Plastic bag for dirty or wet clothes
- Rain Poncho
- Work gloves
- Deodorant
- Comb or brush
- Small hand towel
- Book of Mormon (paperback)
- Glasses/Contacts (if you wear contacts, it’s wise to bring glasses for backup)
- Prescription Medication in a Ziploc bag with instructions
- Small flashlight
- Clothing (see “Trek Clothing” section)
Optional Items:
- Small mirror in a protective case
- Wet Wipes to clean body (no showers)
- Sunglasses
- Lotion
PLEASE DO NOT BRING:
- Electronics (cellphones, tablets, gaming consoles, earbuds, etc.)
- Cameras (Trek photographers will post all photos online for free downloading)
- Valuables, including jewelry
- Weapons (including knives or axes)
- Hot irons, blow dryers, etc.
- Fireworks
- Drugs
Ma & Pa Suggested Additional Packing List
- Extra sunscreen
- Extra insect repellent
- Blister care (bandaids, mole skin, etc.)
- Contact lens solution
- Anti-itch cream (for insect bites)
Trek Clothing
Young Women Trek Clothing
- 2 pioneer style dresses OR 2 pioneer style long skirts and 2 long-sleeve, button-up cotton blouses (wear one and pack one)
- Camisoles/plain colored t-shirts for underneath your blouse (if desired and/or if needed for modesty)
- 2 pair bloomers or leggings (helps prevent chaffing and provides protection to your legs)
- 1 wide-brimmed sunhat or straw hat (no baseball style caps please)
- 4+ pair of socks (moisture wicking and/or wool-synthetic blends are best, avoid cotton)
- 1 Apron (optional)
- Feminine hygiene supplies
- Underclothing (at least 3)
- 1 pair modest pajamas or sweats
Young Men Trek Clothing
- 2 pair cotton pants or similar hiking pants (wear one and pack one, NO JEANS)
- 2 pair pioneer style long-sleeve, button-up shirts (worn out dress shirts work well)
- 1 wide-brimmed, pioneer style hat (no baseball style caps please)
- 4+ pair of socks (moisture wicking or wool-synthetic blends are best)
- 1 pair of suspender and/or 1 vest (optional)
- Underclothing (at least 3)
- 1 pair modest pajamas or sweats (men must wear shirts)
